It seems that a young man, Erwin Lewy, who owned a jewelry store with his brothers in Chicago somewhere in the early 1900’s, had been on a diamond buying trip to Europe in 1912. As luck would have it, he wasn’t able to buy the stones he had hoped for and he decided to delay his return home in the hope that he would be more successful in Amsterdam.
Erwin sealed his fate when he made the decision to take the Titanic back home at the end of his buying trip. His story came to light some years ago when the descendants of Erwin Lewy tried to find out what had happened to the lost Titanic jewels. One of Erwins relatives, Stanley, got some news in 2000 that the lost diamonds were most likely located in one of two places in the ship. One of the places was thought to be in the Captains safe and the other most likely place for their storage was probably in the Bursars bag. Of course, we don’t know at this time, deep down at the bottom of the ocean whether these things, and hundreds of thousands of others, will ever be recovered. Even if they are recovered, where will they end up? Will his relatives and countless others have the opportunity to lay claim to these items or will they end up in museums or in exhibits, part of history, for the entire world to see.
Almost everyone has been drawn to the allure of diamonds and jewelry. Stories about ancient artifacts, gold and sparkling gemstones have enthralled generations. Celebrity gossip, who’s recently engaged, how big was the stone, and finally, the biggest media hype, how much did the diamond ring cost!

It’s almost common place nowadays for one celebrity or another to spend millions of dollars on a diamond. It’s become, I feel, somewhat of a competition to have the biggest most expensive stone. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitts recent engagement news is, of course, all over the news. By all accounts her diamond, which is taking center stage in the news articles, is an elongated emerald cut center stone of approximately 9cts. The emerald cut is set in a mounting with other diamonds which Brad himself designed. Copycat designs are already available, and are no doubt in great demand.

While flipping through the pages of vogue and other fashion staples recently, I found myself studying photos of celebrities carrying stunning designer handbags. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and the like were being carried around town by everyone who was anyone. As I was admiring, somewhat jealously, the shameless array of outrageously expensive bags, an idea suddenly came to me! Instead of paying a fortune for a Chanel classic I could buy it for a fraction of the price in a pre-owned store. As long as I’m in the mood why not look for a lightly loved pre-owned Louis Vuitton bag. Of course you may not be buying the newest style but many designer handbags are classics and are made for many years with no change. High end Pawn shops and resale stores are good places to start looking. Fabulous designer discoveries have been made in these stores, and, after all, the fun is in the hunt girls! I’ve read that celebrities also shop these pre-owned stores from time to time for designer handbags and vintage clothing.
How about those absolutely gorgeous sky high patent leather Christian Louboutin shoes? Who can resist wearing those distinct red bottoms, even holding on to a railing while you walk, they still look sexy! Did you know that you can find them pre-owned also? Sometimes they are hardly worn, worn once or not at all! At over $800 new it’s definitely worth finding them for 25-50% off the retail.
If you’re thinking, I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on designer handbags, just count up how much you’ve spend on shoes and handbags over the years. I’ll bet it’s a lot! I have always preferred to purchase a few good designer pieces that will last for years and go with everything, and here’s the best part…………… if you buy designer you can always trade or sell your shoes and handbags to a high end Pawn Shop or resale store when you finally decide that you’re in the mood for something new!

Pawn Stars Mixin’ It Up With iCarly Stars
Without speculating or assuming about the fans who routinely watch Pawn Stars and their taste in cable TV shows, I think it would be safe to assume that many of you have kids that watch iCarly, a Nickelodeon sitcom. The reason for bringing this up is that the most unanticipated and unexpected move has been announced; and you won’t believe it.
Later in 2012, yours truly, the boys from Pawn Stars – Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison and Chumlee (Austin Russell) – have a guest spot on an episode of iCarly; unbelievable. These pawn shop celebrities in their own right have really crossed some influential paths just by being who they are in their own cable hit series. As unlikely as it may seem, the stars of iCarly will be hosting these guys as part of a story line that takes Sam and Carly on a road trip to the star-studded gambling capitol of the world, Las Vegas.
As it has been released, the need for some serious cash, quick, Sam and Carly stumble upon the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, aka Pawn Stars store, trying to pawn some stuff. From here, only your imagination can guess what will actually happen. Rest assured, any ideas that Chumlee will be any different should be tossed out the window. He needs to be himself, that’s what works in Pawn Stars, and it will work with iCarly as well. Perhaps, some serious teasing and taunting by Rick and Corey can yield some Three Stooges comedy to really add some humor to the set.
How ever it goes, it is a sure bet that the cast and crew of two very popular series will have a great time together. What else could anyone expect? When the worlds of Pawn Stars and iCarly collide, all bets are off, even in Las Vegas, on what comedy will ensue. In fact, I wonder if they have considered the combination of Spencer (the incredibly funny character from iCarly) and Chumlee experiencing a hillarious interchange would turn out? Well, I guess we will have to just tune in to find out.

Chumlee, Les Gold, and Jimmie DeRamus are Reality Pawn Stars
As promised, we are going to go down the road with some interesting tidbits on some characters from pawn shop reality TV shows. Before getting their big break on Pawn Stars, Chumlee, aka Austin Russell, was quite the avid pawn shop regular. Considered to be like a son to Rick Harrison, Chumlee had spent a lot of his boyhood time with friend Corey Harrison. This time has obviously paid off, and he goes right along with the punches that come his way from the Harrison clan.
Reality TV has also given some spotlight to Les Gold, a 40 year veteran to the pawn shop industry. This generational family business has been well established and very successful long before TruTV came along for the ride. This reality TV show has a strong following that tend to visit in person at the astonishing 50,000 square foot pawn shop; easily one of the largest in the country.
It would be impossible to not have some success in a place this big. At any rate, Les Gold knows how to run a business. With 45 employees, he has managed to grow an empire, literally, that is managed by son, daughter, wife, and some very close friends. Family is not the real qualifier here either; his two children are college graduates and know their stuff. This is one family in a pawn shop business you do not want to mess with.
Moving on, there is a newcomer to the reality TV stage; his name is Jimmie DeRamus of the new hit pawn shop series Cajun Pawn Stars. His pawn shop has got to have some of the most unusual characters walk through his doors. While the other pawn shows experience their own wildlife, this place tops the list. In fact, when was the last time you saw a cow show up as a pawn item?
This is a simple example of what you can expect from this series; it’s no wonder they are climbing the chart. To really appreciate what I am talking about, you have to check out this show on the History Channel. Of course, there is a lot more you can find out by looking up information on Chumlee, Les Gold, and Jimmie DeRamus using the Internet. The fun part of this is that you never know exactly what or who will show up at any of the reality TV pawn shop shows.
Chumlee of Pawn Stars – Goofy By Nature Or Acting?
Chumlee has no fear when it comes to expressing himself and letting the world know he knows how to enjoy life.
There was a Twitter post that may surprise some of the followers of the show ‘Pawn Stars‘ on the History Channel. Recently, Chumlee posted on Ron Paul’s website. He stated that “I have no idea who this dude is nor have I ever seen the show, but he has 109,000 followers on twitter, so he must be pretty famous.” Some comments from Rep. Paul’s camp were civil, but reserved. One person made the comment that Chumlee was a young 20 something year old portraying a goofy character on the pawn shop show. Now, that raised a question, is he portraying this kind of a character or is this actually how Chumlee acts in real life?
There is nothing that I can find indicating that he is acting like a goofball, it appears as though this is who he really is off camera as well. Not to be mean-spirited here at all, but some people are very laid back and just let life happen, accepting what comes along. This is how Chumlee comes across in every situation or episode that videos his behavior and antics. It would be fascinating to meet him and see just how down-to-earth he is without cameras around. Personally, I think he would be a lot of fun to just hang out with and enjoy visiting about whatever comes up at the time.

In a more thoughtful description, Chumlee has a way of keeping every aspect of his life simple and uncomplicated. Frankly, this world would be a little better off if we would not take life so seriously, let our hair down, and just enjoy the moments we have with family and friends. Why not?
So, if Chumlee happens to be “goofy” in real life, great; more power to him! Who am I to judge his character and take umbrage to his behaviors? This is his life and he has the right to choose how he lives, which includes how he behaves at any given moment. Mr. Chumlee, I support you as a person, goofy or not, and hope that the too serious people of the world can learn from the real example you set. It is not the outward expressions that matter so much; it is the lack of stress you exhibit and the ability to let the negativity slide on by. Congratulations on your success, especially since you obtained it without hurting anyone, judging anyone, or being afraid to just be you!

This processor will have speeds from 1.5 to 2.0 ghz and host 1 GB of ram to help deliver some absolutely blistering responses to launching apps, partially due to the 4G speeds available. What’s more, you will have access to a new 3D capturing app for your new iPhone 5; drooling yet? Oh yeah, you can capture, render, and process pictures in 3D, and with the upgraded camera features, this will include taking pictures in Panorama. If this has not got you on board for the new amazing phone, check this out.
Handling the phone will feel different, but better, with its new sleek design. You will have an extended life battery of up to 10 hours and standby time that is an incredible 1000 hours. The screen will be full 1080p HD along with a 3D video display to help you enjoy those 3D pictures in Panorama. And finally, this will be a SIM-less phone that includes 2 to 3 internal antennas. As Apple puts it, “…the iPhone 5 will be a World Phone.”
With other features to be announced as the release date nears, one can only speculate as to the astounding and uncanny abilities this piece of technology wonder will possess. While you are getting wound up about this fine piece of work, there is bound to be even better and more impressive products from Apple on the horizon. What that may be is anyone’s guess, or educated speculation if you have the insider’s scoop.

I know, I know, this is probably way more than you wanted to see, but if you happen to be a real technology junkie, this has got to be impressive; that is, of course, if you did not know about it already. Having showed this, the real story here is about the new smart phone capabilities coming from the iPhone 5. It has not been that long since iPhone 4S was the topic of the day; as previously mentioned, technology moves very fast.
The Apple iPhone 5 is expected to be released sometime later in 2012. Speculations revolve around an early Fall debut, but it is only speculation at this time. A question that is bound to be brought up is what Apps will grace this new phone that is functional and practical? Well, both of these terms are relative to what one may mean by functional and practical. Defining these words to suit this new technology is neither practical or functional for the readership. What really matters is related directly to the needs of each user, individually, not collectively. Rick Harrison – Buy Gold Or Field Work?
Pawn Stars takes Rick Harrison out into the field more, making the show more interesting by not spending the majority of the time in the shop.
Watching a pawn shop show has just so long to be a series. This holds true for any cable or network series; the lifespan is finite. Making the material interesting enough to draw a large viewing audience is something that producers probably lose sleep over at some point.
Even so, the current task at hand will involve understanding what the viewing public want to see. Are they interested in drama, action, mysteries, comedy, and so on? The answer is what will drive the motivation to create something bold enough and cutting-edge to hit those elusive top numbers.
An example here is the Pawn Stars series on the History Channel, their content cannot be about clients constantly coming in to pawn gold, pawn jewelry, sell a watch, etc. No, they have to really beef up the antics or drama; make it interesting for the viewership. Industry trends have been for many, many years to include some form of conflict with humor and at least one person being clueless about most everything.
It appears that the executives over Pawn Stars is seeing the need to get the show out of the famous pawn shop and into the field more. This means that, to some extent, the items being sold to the shop will be bigger, stranger, and more challenging to make a profit from after committing to a purchase. All of this can really create a whole new appeal for those used to seeing words flying, pranks being played on Chumlee, or hearing the boss (Dad) make off-handed remarks ensuring that everyone remembers who is boss.
I say if they find that appeal factor to draw in larger numbers and a different demographic, absolutely fantastic! Why, you may ask? This is what creativity in reality shows is all about, connecting with those who pay the bills and look for entertaining television. Okay, Pawn Stars, go for it and all the best!

Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Has Racing In His Blood
During a Pawn Stars episode recently, Rick Harrison was considering a purchase of a dragster. For a change, he was not behind the desk trying to pawn gold or jewelry from a customer. No, he was out in the field on this one; refreshing change of pace in the show. At any rate, the seller of the dragster was all enamored with the whole television environment and seemed to be convinced that good old Rick was his new bud and would by the speedster.
It was a real surprise when Rick decided to jump in and take it for a test drive; makes sense, right? The decision was a smart move since there could be anything wrong with it not detectable unless it was driven.
Well, Rick seems to have some real racing blood running, or should I say, speeding through his veins. When sitting at the starting line waiting for the lights to go from red to green, he really got into character. Sweat beading down his forehead, an intense look on his face, and a tight, no, a very tight grip on the steering wheel were all obvious just watching the screen.
The light hits green and suddenly the tires start spinning and smoking, just like you see when professionals are slicking up their tires. The wheels grabbed the surface and he shot out of their like the Navy’s F-15 fighter jets at take-off on an aircraft carrier; literally a slingshot effect.
Rick Harrison admitted that he now knew how Navy fighter pilots feel at take-off.
It is a shame that there was no camera shot of his eyes when that bad boy took off. Rick admitted he was a little scared, but that the car steered good and got him to the finish. It appeared that the car would be worth the $30,000 being asked.
Whoa! Stop the presses! Rick could have knocked the owner over with a feather when the price offered was a mere $11,000; a small $6,000 for the dragster and $5,000 for the trailer. You could see the huge disappointment on the owner’s face; he went completely pale.
“That would be giving it away.” remarked the owner when later he was interviewed, but accepted the fact and was ready to move on. Rick was really on target with this when he later described just how poor of a shape the vehicle was in; bad engine, out-dated front-end, and vital systems needing an overhaul. Got to hand it to Mr. Harrison, he really does know what he is talking about.

He arranges a private and very romantic date to set the mood and create a mindset that will lock the moment in time. Whether it is a beautiful country-side filled with her favorite wildflowers and scenery or an evening of dinner and romantic walks along the beach, the setting will be a huge part of accomplishing a memorable moment. For the most part, river transportation was used to move the artifacts with the train being used on one occasion due to the weight and significance of the pieces. An armed guard was part of the protective measure utilized for such a magnificent discovery. Sheer and utter elation was felt throughout the 10 year process of removing and having each piece catalogued. A tremendous amount of photographic evidence was created to help preserve the initial experience.
Imagine the feelings and emotions being felt by Howard Carter and his team on that first day of discovery.
