Chumlee of Pawn Stars – Goofy By Nature Or Acting?

LAS VEGAS, NV - DECEMBER 01: Austin 'Chumlee'...

Chumlee has no fear when it comes to expressing himself and letting the world know he knows how to enjoy life.

There was a Twitter post that may surprise some of the followers of the show ‘Pawn Stars‘ on the History Channel. Recently, Chumlee posted on Ron Paul’s website. He stated that “I have no idea who this dude is nor have I ever seen the show, but he has 109,000 followers on twitter, so he must be pretty famous.” Some comments from Rep. Paul’s camp were civil, but reserved. One person made the comment that Chumlee was a young 20 something year old portraying a goofy character on the pawn shop show. Now, that raised a question, is he portraying this kind of a character or is this actually how Chumlee acts in real life?

There is nothing that I can find indicating that he is acting like a goofball, it appears as though this is who he really is off camera as well. Not to be mean-spirited here at all, but some people are very laid back and just let life happen, accepting what comes along. This is how Chumlee comes across in every situation or episode that videos his behavior and antics. It would be fascinating to meet him and see just how down-to-earth he is without cameras around. Personally, I think he would be a lot of fun to just hang out with and enjoy visiting about whatever comes up at the time.

What do you think? Is he for real… or is “Chumlee”the creation of a savvy actor?

In a more thoughtful description, Chumlee has a way of keeping every aspect of his life simple and uncomplicated. Frankly, this world would be a little better off if we would not take life so seriously, let our hair down, and just enjoy the moments we have with family and friends. Why not?

So, if Chumlee happens to be “goofy” in real life, great; more power to him! Who am I to judge his character and take umbrage to his behaviors? This is his life and he has the right to choose how he lives, which includes how he behaves at any given moment. Mr. Chumlee, I support you as a person, goofy or not, and hope that the too serious people of the world can learn from the real example you set. It is not the outward expressions that matter so much; it is the lack of stress you exhibit and the ability to let the negativity slide on by.  Congratulations on your success, especially since you obtained it without hurting anyone, judging anyone, or being afraid to just be you!

So again, I ask… What do you think? Is he for real… or is “Chumlee”the creation of a savvy actor?

Cajun Pawn Stars Could Be New Hit

Now, there is a point at which something original does not need a sequal or spin-off. Case in point, the hit reality show, Pawn Stars, is indeed a hit. The amount of attention Corey, Chumlee, and the crew receive has grown substantially since its debut. Being in its fourth season, there appears to be more of the same and less of Corey; he lost 115 pounds. At any rate, the whole notion that another pawn reality TV show is necessary or will be popular is a stretch at best. Move the concept to a part of the country where community spirit about being Cajun is strong and proud, then kick it a few times in the teeth and you get the Cajun Pawn Stars.

I say “…kick it in the teeth…” because the folks have apparently not entirely welcomed this show to their neighborhood, and yet, they are going to get this nation-wide coverage anyway, like it or not. Some comments on the Internet are not even close to being favorable. It makes you wonder what the producers, creators, and so on, were thinking and who they did not bother to speak with to get a feel for the cultural response to their idea. Of course, all of this is opinion that opposes the new series.

On a lighter side, the show is promoting a little twist to shake up the usual pawning aspect of the show. For example, instead of seeing a lot of people sell gold, jewelry, or their fancy watches, you are likely to see a bovine beast traipse across the floor or a donkey grace the television set. Yes, this will be entertaining to some. Let’s agree to give this series a chance and see just how much it makes you laugh and smile. Who knows? It could be a huge hit and become a pleasant surprise.

In this move, the opportunity to get online and give your best bid to try and earn a spot in history by owning that special item from actors like Brad Pitt, Christine Aguilera, Jeff Bridges, and others. Think how ecstatic eBay was when this was proposed and announced.

Pawn Stars Breathes Life Into Pawn Shops Nationwide

LAS VEGAS, NV - DECEMBER 05: (L-R) TV Persona...

The Stars of Pawn Stars

What is it with Chumlee, Corey, and Rick of Pawn Stars? Seeing how they seemingly love each other and still show so much animosity is quite a feat. While there is plenty of the entertainment included for each episode, there is still the actual business that does not get enough of the attention for some viewers. Thankfully, the humor and sarcasm provide enough filler to keep the interest and attention on the show.

So, what is it about the whole pawn shop industry that becomes appealing just because of some reality television spin on the industry? Some have commented that a little concern is warranted about scaring off potential customers who don’t typically frequent pawn shops. On the contrary according to Emmett Murphy, Public Relations of the National Pawnbrokers Association. He has publicly stated that the reality television show, Pawn Stars, has given a boost to the pawnbroker industry. Not only has the industry seen tremendous growth in the past 12 months, but it has developed some diverse means for producing additional revenue. One of the most popular in this day and age for the Boca Raton pawn shops is the loaning element.

People of all walks of life are utilizing the opportunity to get loans on their personal items during these difficult and challenging economic times. Now, this is a true blessing to so many of those struggling. Typically, when times are much more fruitful, it is easier to feel as though discretionary spending is justified and not considered a strain on the budget. Fortunately, this decision to spend in good economic times has paid off in a big way for some when they later need cash to manage their personal affairs and augment their strained bank account.

What has become a booming business, pawning personal items for cash as a loan, breathes life into pawn brokers and availed anyone in need to get much needed cash in a very short amount of time. No matter what your opinion of pawn shops or the Pawn Stars reality television show, a tangible purpose exists that millions across the country find beneficial during tough financial times.
